This multi-purpose dome facility for Peoria Public School District 150 will serve as a meeting place in the community for organized sporting events, park district use, and recreational use for the Peoria community and beyond. The dome is 108,000 sq ft of turf and designated sporting fields.
During inflation, the large crew of 25 men and women made their way out to Peoria Stadium Dome on to roll out and connect the tarp that will cover the complex. The team had to attach the blowers to the tarp, connect each unique section, and ensure each part/bolt/screw is secure in place for the inflation of the dome. The team plans to have the covering assembled by next week and begin inflation shortly after. The dome will be home to the 400x275 ft District 150 Sports Complex. The project also features a concession and restroom area for fans and visitors to enjoy.
The dome took over 5 days to inflate entirely. Specialized dome technician on the project noted that it typically takes months for structures like this to settle to their final position.
