P.J. Hoerr was brought in as a general contractor to provide design-build services for Westminster Village, a senior living community located on a 40-acre campus in Bloomington, Illinois. It is locally owned and operated as a not-for-profit organization since 1979. To better serve existing and future residents the facility’s Board of Directors decided to embark on an ambitious project to add new facilities and make major improvements to the existing facilities. P.J. Hoerr was chosen from a group of several construction management firms to help plan and manage the construction and renovations.
Design-Build
The projects include construction of a new two story, 42,600 sq ft skilled nursing center and the total gut and remodel of the facility’s two existing skilled nursing wings (28,600sq ft). The skilled nursing center currently has a license for 78 beds and the expansion will allow an additional 18 beds. In addition, a completely new entrance to the facility will be built and the 21,500 sq ft Village Center will be completely reconstructed. Improvements also include construction of a completely new kitchen and dining room additions.
These construction projects will be constructed in phased manner while the facility maintains daily operations. P.J. Hoerr developed detailed phasing plans for each of these projects and worked with the Owner, architects and engineers to plan the finished product. In addition, P.J. Hoerr developed numerous budgets and budget updates and detailed schedules for each of the projects. Once these improvements are completed the Village plans to construct further enhancements and improvements to their campus.
